German Film Awards 2013 - Best Costume Design

On Friday, April, 26th, 2013, at the Friedrichstadtpalast in Berlin, the Golden Lola for the Best Costume Design 2013 has been awarded to

Kym Barrett and Pierre-Yves Gayraud  for their brilliant work in the film  'Cloud Atlas'

Congratulations!

Unfortunately Kym Barrett could not attend the event and so Pierre-Yves Gayraud took over both statues.

It was Pierre-Yves' second Lola already - he had been awarded the first one in 2007 for his costume design in the film "Perfume: The Story of a Murderer"

Kym Barrett had not been nominated for the German Film Awards as yet, though she created the costumes for a lot of Hollywood block busters.

In 2007 she worked for the first time in Germany for the Babelsberg Studios production "Speed Racer".
She is best known for the "Matrix trilogy", "Speed Racer", "The Amazing Spider-Man", "The Green Hornet", "Eragon", "From Hell", "Gothika" and "William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet".
Kym currently works in England for the new Lana and Andy Wachowski Film "Jupiter Ascending".

Pierre-Yves Gayraud is amongst the costume designers in France, who are most in demand and has already designed costumes for several big productions in Germany.

Only recently, in February 2013, he completed his last production in Germany for the Babelsberg Studios "Beauty and the Beast" (La Belle et la Bête).
Further german productions are: "The Three Musketeers" (3D), "The Countess", "Perfume: The Story of a Murderer"and of course "Cloud Atlas"
